Scott McClellan – A Patriot or a Benedict Arnold?

I am sure by now everyone as seen or heard about former Bush Administration White House press secretary, Scott McClellan's book, "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception". Now I am not too sure how many people can say they are too shocked in what Scott McClellan has revealed in his book, in which he criticizes the Bush Administration for their handling of the Iraq war as well as some personal takes on George Bush (His alleged cocaine use for example), and fellow White House staffers. I do think more people are shocked that he of all people was the one to write this latest tell all book. He has been a loyal George Bush supporter for the last ten years and was hand picked to follow Bush to the White House from Texas. Now remember Scott is not the only former Bush Administration person the leave the white house and speak critically of the Administration. Back in 2004, former chief counter-terrorism adviser, Richard Clark wrote his own tell-all. In his book, "Against All Enemies: Inside America's War on Terror--What Really Happened.", he was also very critical of the Bush Administration. His main criticisms were focused on the way they handled the terrorism threat as well as the decision to go to war with Iraq. And just like they did with Richard Clark then, now they are beginning the dialogue against Scott McClellan painting him as someone who had limited knowledge of what was really going on in the White House and is just being another bitter and opportunistic former employee. In fact today I heard, I think my favorite quote from an, of course, impartial party, former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole in which he said (And this is good.), "There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique.".... OUCH!!! That has to hurt. But do these right wing talking points really discredit what he had to say? Maybe. But to me this man has come across as being genuine in the interviews I have seen, and all he has really done is elaborate on what a lot of people had been saying anyway, including Richard Clark. Now I am confident that many will brand this man as an opportunist, a traitor or something even worse a Liberal in Disguise... lol, but I will look at him a bit different. He is not a Benedict Arnold and he is no Patriot, but for him to know the ridicule and disdain he is certain to receive from his former friends and colleagues, as well as a lot of the American people, he has taken a big chance. And whether his ultimate goal it is to just make a profit or to truly and genuinely be honest with the American people, he has shown me something in his actions.... What he has shown me is that Scott McClellan has one set of big brass ones.

I think its all funny.... I am sure when the Tell-All books about Clinton came out that the same people were not so disturbed... hypocrisy is funny.
